The “Clos des Américains” holds its atypical name from the XIXth century. At this time, French vines were destroyed by the phylloxera, a devastating aphid. Vines were saved by American stock, naturally resistant to this parasite. Our vineyard was one of the first to plant these American vine stocks.

The Clos des Américains vineyard extends over a little more than 20 hectares and dominates the ponds of la Petite Camargue.

Vines are on average 30 years old and they are enjoying top conditions for wine growing thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate : A soil of rolled pebbles, the mistral, a generous period of sunshine and the humidity generated by the ponds of the Camargue which is in front of the vineyard, allow the production of premium wines.

On its 20 hectares of grapevines, the vineyard has a palette of grape varieties adapted to the soil of south of France : Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Tempranillo, Mourvèdre , Cabernet Sauvignon, Marsane, Roussane, Viognier and Vermentino.
